West Virginia University Health Science Center is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Program Coordinator Senior at the WVU Cancer Institute/Department of Cancer Prevention and Control
About the Opportunity
This position participates in and contributes to the mission, vision, and strategic plan of WVU Cancer Institute (WVUCI) and Department of Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC.) Oversees all aspects of program management for specified grants, subcontracts, or other projects. Manages day to day programming, grant responsibilities, budgets, progress and continuation reports, and grant applications. Recruits, maintains, and directs a program team to meet all deliverables. Duties may include other CPC or WVUCI projects and responsibilities. CPC serves all of West Virginia and this position will require travel throughout the state. Work effort enhances state, regional, and national partnerships, delivery of service, community engagement, and WVUCI image.

What you’ll do:
Oversees all aspects of day-today program management, implementation, and innovation.
Manages day to day programming, responsibilities, budgets, progress reporting, and continuation applications of grant and subcontract projects
Supervises the coordination of the identification, development, and maintenance of internal and external partnerships with strategic stakeholders, community partners, professional partners, various community-based organizations throughout West Virginia and Appalachia, regional and national organizations.
Builds and maintains a strong team to meet grant deliverables. Hires, trains, supports, and reviews all staff activities and ensures staff are equipped to carry out job responsibilities. Meets regularly with team to evaluate and facilitate activities. Promotes staff trainings and conducts annual reviews.
Oversees the fiscal requirements of all grants, contracts, and subcontracts and ensures the integrity of all revenues and expenditures.
Tracks program progress, assessing strengths/weaknesses, and develops and implements strategies to improve outcomes and deliverables.
Manages the design, develops policy, and disseminates, culturally appropriate, evidence-based programs and services. Provides direction and expertise in program planning, implementation, evaluation, and applied research.
Maintains positive relationships with granting agencies; develops and maintains partnerships with strategic stakeholders, community, and professional partners.
Prepares and delivers new proposals for funding and ensures the continuation of existing programs, grants, and contracts.
Supervises and coordinates the writing and updating of the WV Cancer Plan, including the coordination of statewide committees with diverse representation, and navigating the document through multi-stakeholder approval process.
Supervises the creation and dissemination of cancer information through the development of resources such as handouts, flyers, presentations, internal and external communications, videos, photographs, posters, infographics, social media, websites, etc.
Facilitates the goals and processes associated with the distribution of resources (funding, content-specific, etc.) to community members as appropriate. This may include management of mini-grants, recruitment and selection of awardees, the provision of technical assistance, progress monitoring, and some budgetary oversite of projects.
Participates in Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) activities.
Participates in and contributes to the mission, vision, and strategic plan of WVU Cancer Institute (WVUCI) and the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC).
Serve as a member on the CPC executive leadership team and is responsible for promulgating policy.
Functions as a member of the CPC staff and participates in staff meetings, required conferences, training seminars, program meetings, regular team meetings, etc. Includes conferences and training seminars provided by the WVUCI, Mountains of Hope (MOH) Cancer Coalition, and other relevant entities.
Completes all required WVU trainings and certifications.
Develops and delivers presentations on cancer screening, health literacy, and cultural competency as needed.
Represents WVU Cancer Institute and/or CPC at state, regional, and national meetings, and conferences.
Assists with development of cancer educational and small media resources.
Submits articles, abstracts, and posters to promote programmatic work and outreach of CPC.
Seeks and applies for additional funding opportunities for CPC projects.
Collaborates with other CPC staff and programs to extend the reach of CPC.
Participates in and contributes to regular CPC staff meetings.
Assists with other CPC program activities as requested by leadership.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in appropriate discipline: public health, health communications, social work, health education, healthcare administration, marketing, or other healthcare professions degree.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in managing health-related education programs, event planning, group dynamics, leadership, program assessment, evaluation, and working collaboratively with internal and external partners.
Strong program management and oversight skills.
Strong supervisory skills and ability to manage multiple levels of staff.
Skills in, or knowledge of, professional principles, legal and/or reporting requirements affecting area of responsibility.
Ability to rapidly learn institution, federal, and state statutes and regulations impacting the work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
High attention to detail.
Skilled at writing correspondence and preparing reports.
Demonstrated knowledge and skill in using statistical software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary team environment and to coordinate participation of team members from various backgrounds.
Group facilitation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to solve problems with a range of complexity.
