Job Summary:
The Quality Improvement Manager is a unique and exciting academic staff position at the UW Madison Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). The ADRC is a prestigious NIH-funded research center dedicated to improving early detection of Alzheimer's Disease, identifying risk and protective factors, and understanding the disease process in underrepresented populations. This position will report to the ADRC Executive Administrator and will work with a variety of leaders and staff in the ADRC, Division of Geriatrics, Department of Medicine, and SMPH.

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Quality Improvement Manager to join our team. This essential, high-profile position will provide leadership in project management, quality management, and process improvement in supporting the center in achieving measurable goals in performance and outcomes.

This position will simultaneously manage a variety of simple to complex, short-term to long-term projects and key activities including but not limited to:

- Lead process improvement projects to enhance the center's operational efficiency and effectiveness
- Disseminate process improvement methodologies and tools throughout the program
- Provide consultation and coaching to support leaders and staff in their own process improvement initiatives
- Partner with leaders and staff to develop and oversee strategic action plans
- Develop operational data dashboards by identifying key metrics, collaborating with the data management and statistical core and operational cores,
- Manage the ongoing review of operational data dashboards and working with stakeholders to identify data trends
- Manage quality-related documentation, such as a data management plan
- Serve as a project manager for various operational, compliance and cross-functional initiatives

Responsibilities:
Manages multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish or one large project impacting the institution at-large under general supervision.
25% Creates a project plan, monitors progress and performance against the project plan, and identifies, resolves, or escalates risks and issues
5% Manages the activities of outside contractors to ensure they are integrated into the project and that the organization receives satisfactory standards of service
25% Facilitates the estimation of project costs, resources, and time required to complete the assigned phase of a project and monitors activities, negotiates for resources, and assigns tasks to ensure these targets are met. Follows established change control processes if targets can no longer be met
20% Prepares regular reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team
5% Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and collaborates with project staff to meet project targets and milestones
5% Manages key center documents such as a data management plan and operational dashboards
5% Oversees the strategic action plan portfolio
10% Leads the quality improvement program

Education:
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree
Degree in healthcare administration, business administration, project management, public health, quality management, health sciences, industrial engineering, or related field preferred

Qualifications:
Required:
- At least two years of project management experience, including organizing, leading, and overseeing the completion of simultaneous projects
- Demonstrated ability to work in and lead multi-disciplinary teams


Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare and/or academia
- Experience working with physicians and/or faculty leaders
- Experience in a federally-funded research environment
- Knowledge and experience in quality improvement methodologies (e.g. root cause analyses, PDSA, process mapping, LEAN, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Experience in developing and executing operational data dashboards
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent training/certification and experience
