The Office for Strategic Affairs is part of the portfolio of the Vice President for Strategic Affairs and Diversity. The office advances strategic priorities of the university, including Beyond Boundaries, strategic planning, the Virginia Tech Advantage, and the Council on Virginia Tech History. The Office for Strategic Affairs works closely and collaboratively with the Office for Inclusion and Diversity.

Reporting to the Director for Strategic Affairs, the Manager in the Office for Strategic Affairs is responsible for developing and guiding program and project management efforts related to strategic planning, the continuous planning process, and other new initiatives, including diversity strategic planning. Responsibilities include: serving as liaison between offices and constituents at Virginia Tech to support unit strategic plan alignment with university priorities; serving as a central point of coordination for scheduling, coordinating, reporting, and analyzing results from engagement sessions offered through the Office for Strategic Affairs; working collaboratively with and across university colleges, institutes, offices, departments, and units to achieve the mission of the Office for Strategic Affairs. And supports the director in maintaining accuracy and updates to the publicly available Strategic Planning Metrics Dashboard in collaboration with other data owners and data management teams across the university.

Assists in outreach and engagement with university stakeholders, drafting communications as well as presentation materials related to university strategic planning and university priorities to various audiences. Builds, deploys, and summarizes key takeaways from stakeholder engagement such as feedback sessions and/or feedback surveys using a variety of survey and analysis tools. Summarizes stakeholder and program-related datasets at an initial phase to be used in further analysis and decision-making by the director and other areas of senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
Extensive organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage tasks across multiple concurrent projects.
Demonstrated working knowledge or proficiency with collecting, summarizing, and defining initial high-level insights from survey data, text-based analysis, using several methods and tools such as Excel, Google/Microsoft Forms, QuestionPro, Qualtrics, Tableau, etc.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse partners, and at times conduct sensitive written and verbal communications with university stakeholders, senior leadership, and the Board of Visitors.
Experience coordinating and planning events in a higher education setting.
Skilled at performing multiple duties related to programs and initiatives across a variety of university operational and administrative workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in business administration or similar field.
Experience in a higher education setting.
Experience with strategic planning or similar area.
