The Sonography department at St. Catherine University invites applications for a Ranked Faculty position.

The Sonography Department at St. Catherine University is one of only two universities in the Upper Midwest to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in sonography. St. Catherine University specializes in educating health care professionals and has an outstanding reputation in the healthcare community as the metro area’s leading healthcare educator. The Sonography Program also has an extensive clinical network where students will gain training in real-world environments. Long term this position requires a completion of a graduate degree. We are happy to consider candidates who have completed a bachelor-level degree. In this case, enrollment in a master’s degree of study will be required and will have an identified timeline for completion. Tuition remission would be made available upon enrollment in the graduate degree program.

There is an opportunity for this position to be hybrid. Additionally, we can consider candidates who want to continue to maintain clinical practice by bringing them on between 20 and 40 hours a week.


Responsibilities:
Teach between four and seven course loads per year based upon FTE
Design, teach, evaluate, and revise course content to reflect evidence-based practice and the most current knowledge in the field
Evaluate student performance and provide timely and frequent feedback to students on academic performance
Mentor and advise undergraduate students within the program
Maintain and grow relationships with clinical sites
Monitor students’ learning and growth during their clinical experiences
Monitor students’ records and logs of clinical site visits
Keep an up-to-date log on clinical site visits
Keep up-to-date with onboarding the clinical sites
Meet with all clinical instructors yearly for feedback and to update the clinical handbook
Participate in scholarly and professional activities to maintain or advance currency within the field
Participate in service opportunities at the school, university, and professional levels
Execute job functions in alignment with the Accreditation Standards for an Educational Program of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Work with the program director to coordinate annual reports and other accreditation processes
Work with the program director to plan an advisory board and a clinical meeting annually

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Sonography or related field
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS, Abdomen, OB/GYN)
Knowledge of the healthcare industry and its trends
Experience working with diverse population
AND EITHER
5 years of clinical experience as a Sonographer
Individual with a Bachelor degree will be expected to enroll and finish a Master’s degree
OR
Masters or Doctoral Degree
2 years of years of clinical experience as a Sonographer

Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience in an Sonography program
Experience developing and implementing simulation activities
Experience utilizing a learning management system while teaching (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)
Vascular credential
