Job Summary

The Coordinator of Student Involvement (Civic Engagement and Fraternity & Sorority Life) focuses 70% on civic engagement and 30% on fraternity and sorority life. The coordinator acts as a liaison for any student seeking volunteer and service opportunities, working closely with the Office of Volunteer Services. Responsibilities include developing and implementing civic engagement programs and initiatives (i.e., Values Week, National Voter Registration Drive, Stuff the Stadium, etc.), planning events and raising awareness of social issues, and conducting training sessions and workshops on civic engagement, social justice, and community service. The coordinator also evaluates the impact of civic engagement programs and prepares reports on their effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are limited to:

PROVIDE PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES: Develop and implement civic engagement programs and initiatives that align with the university's mission and goals (i.e. Values Week, Stuff the Stadium, Voter Registration Drive, etc.). Plan and execute campaigns to raise awareness about social issues and encourage student participation in civic engagement activities. Manage logistics for service projects within the Office of Student Life and Engagement, including transportation, materials, and communication with community partners. Assess the impact of civic engagement programs through data collection (i.e., surveys, feedback, and other evaluation methods). Prepare reports on the outcomes and effectiveness of civic engagement initiatives, recommending improvements as needed.

SERVE AS THE STUDENT LIAISON FOR SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES: Work closely with the Office of Volunteer Services to stay abreast on service opportunities within the community. Serve as a liaison between Volunteer Services and ensuring that all students are utilizing JagPulse. Assist students in identifying and participating in service projects and civic engagement activities. Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate students about civic engagement, social justice, and community service. Provide resources and support to student leaders and student organizations engaged in civic activities. Provide marketing materials/media to students around civic engagement.

PROVIDE ESSENTIAL ADVISORY SUPPORT TO REGISTERED CHAPTERS: Oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of fraternity and sorority service and philanthropy initiatives. Plan and deliver training programs and workshops to develop leadership skills among fraternity and sorority members. Monitor and ensure compliance with university and national fraternity and sorority policies. Collect and analyze data related to fraternity and sorority life, preparing regular reports on chapter activities, achievements, and areas for improvement.

SUPPORT THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SLE: Assist in the planning and executing of fraternity and sorority life programming, including recruitment, orientation, and new member education. Assist in the planning of major fraternity and sorority events such as Greek Week, Anti-Hazing and Prevention Week, and Greek Convocation. Ensure all events comply with university policies and procedures, including risk management and safety protocols. Participate and assist with other functions of the Department of Student Life & Engagement.

OTHER DUTIES: Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 1 year of experience applicable to students and student development.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience with registered student organizations, fraternities/sororities, and/or university departments event planning. Knowledge and practical application of student development theory. Experience with leading educational programming.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/ databases.

Willingness to adjust personal schedule to the needs of the student union and the necessity to observe, participate in, and evaluate programs.

Understanding and demonstrated commitment to programs and activities that support all campus community.

Demonstrated commitment to all and the practice of open and effective communication with students, faculty, and staff to build and maintain collaborative relationships.

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

This person will make budgetary decisions requiring the use of university funds.

This will also make curriculum and program development decisions that will impact their programs.

This person will have daily contact with faculty, staff, and students.

Demonstrated organizational skills, speaking, facilitation, and presentation skills.

Personal contact and email are routinely necessary for the purpose of meetings and training sessions.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to supervise student staff.

Ability to advise, teach, and coach university students.

Ability to collaborate and develop partnerships with various university departments, faculty, staff, and student organizations.

Ability to easily relate with people, project a feeling of confidence and competence, and handle stressful situations with ease and in a most professional manner.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday-Friday (work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Band: B7

Salary: $43,888/annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
