Job Description

Responsibilities*
Annual Fund and Special Gifts Fundraising:

Lead planning and execution of student philanthropy events such as Hail Yeah, Giving Blueday and other engagement events for students.
Lead creation and implementation of culture of philanthropy with students, staff and related digital fundraising campaigns.
Write, design, and produce solicitations for fund drives
Coordinate annual fund partnerships. Develop and maintain lists for organizing solicitations.
Lead and/or facilitate individual donor visits.
Prepare proposals and negotiate with donors for gifts up to $5,000.
Prepare proposals and negotiate with vendors.
Plan and organize fundraising events.
Stewardship:
Lead maintaining and improving consistent stewardship, gift processing and acknowledgement letter process. This includes but not limited to:
Process gifts in a timely manner.
Prepare individualized acknowledgement letters, tribute notifications, and notes to the dean regarding gifts of $500.00 for acknowledgement letters.
Work with the University's Gift & Records Administration Office to ensure all gifts are properly recorded, processed, tracked and donor information is accurately documented.
Prepare informative and timely gift reports for development and departmental use.
Lead coordination of acknowledgement letter process with the Office of University Development, Communications and Donor Relations offices.
Compile donor lists for programs and MDentistry Magazine.
Financial reporting and preparing financial briefings for Dean and departments on various gift accounts.
Processing gifts-in-kind.
Development and Prospect Research:
Provide individualized prospect research to support donor work of gift officers and the Dean.
Secure assistance from DART development staff as needed for research and records.
Provide support for strategic planning initiatives during campaign, including development and utilization of personalized prospect lists and tracking reports in DART to support gift officers.
Coordinate donor briefing and hosting needs of COO and gift officers' review and follow-up.
Edit, update and enter information to DART as needed.
General Administrative support:
Event planning and hosting.
Act on behalf of the director as requested in handling highly sensitive and confidential inquiries.
Calendar Coordination for donor and prospect meetings.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Development and Alumni Relations; as part of a small unit, collaboration, and ability to take on other duties as needed by the Office of Alumni Relations and Development or the School of Dentistry is imperative.
Required Qualifications*
A Bachelor's degree with at least 1 year of office experience in a development or fundraising environment. Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The willingness to learn the DART development database system and Business Objects software. Ability to effectively communicate and operate in a customer service environment; ability to work independently and as a team member to set priorities and handle multiple assignments and deadlines. Proficiency in spelling, grammar, punctuation; understanding and communicating financial information. A team player, with keen attention to detail, a high level of discretion when dealing with highly sensitive information and a focus on customer service are essential. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Ability to work nights weekends and travel short distances to in-state work events.

Desired Qualifications*
