JOB SUMMARY:
Clemson University's Accounting Services Team is looking for a Director of Accounting Services to fulfill the following duties:

Performs managerial and expert level professional duties in General Ledger accounting including:

Financial Reporting
Capital Asset Accounting
Accounts Receivable
Cash Management
Reconciliations.

Performs Other Duties as Assigned
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - General Ledger Transaction Reporting:
Ensures accurate reporting of financial transactions in the general ledger. Establishes, maintains, and supervises the use of an extensive chart of accounts. Directs the monthly and fiscal year end close processes. Serves as the general ledger lead on the management, design, upgrade, and development of accounting and reporting systems. Provides training, guidance, and direction in financial and systems responsibilities.

40% - Essential - Financial Reporting:
Supervises the preparation, analysis and interpretation of annual and interim financial reports to assist internal and external users in decision making. Verifies conformance with generally accepted accounting principles and reporting requirements of federal, state, and other agencies. Interprets and implements new accounting pronouncements. Directs the preparation of the University's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and manages the annual audit of the University's financial statements.

10% - Essential - Accounting Services:
Reviews and approves University and state cash transfers. Funds University debt service, initiates debt service payments with the State Treasurer's Office, and records debt related transactions in the general ledger. Reviews and approves account reconciliations prepared by accounting services staff.

5% - Essential - Supervisory Duties:
Serves as Director of the Accounting Services department. Leads six accounting professionals and indirectly leads four additional individuals. Prepares annual evaluations of direct reports and reviews annual evaluations of indirect reports in compliance with University policy. Contributes to the departmental budgeting process and monitors budget vs actual performance.

5% - Essential - Other:
Performs Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree - Accounting or a Related Field

Work Experience - 10+ Years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - Master of Professional Accountancy or Master of Business Administration preferred

Provides Budget Input - Provides input into the budgeting process, and oversees fund allocation.
