Job Summary:
The Department of Educational Policy Studies seeks a candidate who will contribute to the department's multi-disciplinary expertise. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of established research and scholarship, as well as undergraduate and graduate teaching, in the sociology of education. Candidates should have a nationally recognized record of research, publication, teaching, and service that meets the criteria for a tenured Associate or Full Professor position at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Responsibilities:
The individual hired for the position is expected to conduct original research and generate scholarly publications sufficient for a tenured appointment at a major research university; develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in educational policy studies, with a focus on sociology of education; supervise and serve on the committees of Master's and Doctoral candidates; serve on departmental, School of Education, and university committees; provide departmental leadership; and engage in professional service at the university, local, regional, national, and/or international level commensurate with their appointment level. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Education:
Required
PhD
Earned doctorate in education or a related field, with an emphasis on sociology of education; or an earned doctorate in sociology with an emphasis on education.

Qualifications:
Minimum Years and Types of Work Experience:
-Candidate should have at least 8 years of relevant work experience in higher education.
-Evidence of established research and scholarship on sociology of education.
-Evidence of excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
-Evidence of success in securing external funding to support research preferred.
-Demonstrated commitment to furthering socially just education.
-Experience working with diverse students and colleagues.

Candidates at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor must possess credentials commensurate with a tenured appointment at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The successful candidate will be formally reviewed for tenure before the official faculty appointment can begin.
