Salary: $41,328 (10-month, college-year)

The Department of Chemistry at Binghamton University (State University of New York, (https://www.binghamton.edu/chemistry/) invites applications for a full-time, Chemistry Lab Technician position. Duties support the teaching functions of the department's Instructional Chemistry laboratories. This position will support the teaching function of the Chemistry Department by:

Setting up instruments, and preparing chemicals and reagents for the instructional chemistry teaching laboratories
Daily distributing and clearing of chemicals for labs
Maintaining records and files of instrumentation and chemicals for the instructional chemistry labs
Assisting on the management of the instructional chemistry stock rooms
Assisting on the management of the instructional chemistry common areas
Attaining knowledge of general lab safety, health and safety practices and protocol for waste disposal
Providing training and work direction to student employees
Assisting and supervising undergraduate students and graduate teaching assistants during laboratory sessions
Assisting in the development of new lab exercises
Participating in necessary institutional functions such as, but not limited to, departmental and university committees

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field is required
Must have the ability to lift at least 30 lbs
Core hours for this position are 11am-7pm to correspond with instructional needs
Preferred:

Familiarity with general lab safety, health and safety practices and protocol for waste disposal
