Job Summary

Leads and directs all Donor Engagement and Stewardship activities for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement that properly conveys our appreciation to our donors for their support. These activities and events may be both programmatic and personalized in nature. This position directly manages staff and works collaboratively with the entire Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement team as well as Deans, Directors and Designees across the University and Health System Enterprise to ensure high standards of stewardship excellence are achieved. Position is always seeking to engage and steward donors in creative and meaningful ways.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leads, directs, and plans for donor engagement and stewardship events, including but not limited to an annual cumulative giving event, individual donor recognition events, and collaboration with School, College and Units to provide best practice support for their individual scholarship events. Duties include finalizing and approving invitation lists, drafting or approving and communicating a run of show, managing overall budget for PAE programmatic stewardship events, and approval of catering, beverage, entertainment and parking services contracted for the events. Responsible for ensuring AU participates in the President's award and other select awards, leading the nomination and recognition processes, and any related event support.

Directs and manages the Gift Agreement process in collaboration with the VP for Foundations. Ensures that all gift agreement templates are updated with approved language and routing process is followed to ensure timely review, edits and signatures of these important documents. Maintains record of fully executed gift agreements and provides to IDS to be uploaded into the database.

Leads a comprehensive process to create quality annual endowment reports that work cohesively with annual reporting for our Foundations (AU and MCG). This work includes managing the requests, updates and edits to the donor and recipient lists, collaboratively working on the design of the endowment reports to complement the annual reports, and managing the production and distribution of the reports which is currently through the ODDER system, including updates to IDS to reflect endowment recipients on their database - record.



Reviews and recommends updated content for Donor Engagement and Stewardship website - ensuring current, compelling donor stories are uploaded and accessible. Works closely with Philanthropy Communications on video production in support of special events and messaging to key constituents; ensures a sound social media strategy in support of Donor Engagement and Stewardship activities and works collaboratively with Annual Giving to produce Thank View materials.

Collaborates with Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement operations to ensure best practices in the gift acknowledgement process, including but not limited to directing staff to update tax receipt letters, personalized presidential gift acknowledgement letters for major donors, and directs all other high level recognition correspondence. Directs and manages staff to handle a myriad of outreach activities that steward donors (such as birthday cards, holiday cards, consecutive giving recognition and collaborates with the Director of Annual Giving and the AVP of Gift & Estate Planning to manage stewardship for all identified societies, etc.).

Responsible for maintaining the Policies and Procedures library for all facets of Donor Engagement and Stewardship, including donor recognition standards for all facilities and programs as well as managing the existing donor recognition inventory, identification of space naming opportunities that reflect accepted best practices and conform with USG Board of Regents standards and leads the approval processes for implementation. Plans and executes the manufacture and installation of physical donor recognition pieces across the enterprise.

Works with Deans and MGOs on implementing and continuous improvement of scholarship award and recognition process.

Serves as AU's donor relations expert by staying current on donor relations trends and participating in training opportunities.

Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three years of experience in higher education or non-profit organization, specifically, experience stewarding private philanthropic gifts, or seven or more years of experience/training in fundraising, sales, marketing or similar.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university and five or more years major gift fundraising experience in higher education or non-profit organization, specifically, experience in personally stewarding private philanthropic gifts. Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).

Ability to work effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds, including healthcare professionals, community leaders, as well as patients, families, volunteers and employees

Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends and conduct multi-day business trips

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Pay Band: B14

Salary: $75,300

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
