Job Description

The CSN CIT Cybersecurity program is looking for part-time instructors for instructing in Cybersecurity/network security courses. Teaching assignments may include classroom courses based in any of the three CSN locations: Charleston, North Las Vegas, and Henderson OR remote course based on availability.

Responsibilities of a Part-Time Cybersecurity Instructor in the Computing and Information Technology department include but are not limited to:

  • Lecture and Lab instruction for Information Technology Courses. Course assignments may be multi-campus with the possibility of day, evening and/or weekend classes. Courses may be delivered online, or be delivered as a hybrid, online and in person.

  • Develop Lesson Plans, and course materials in conjunction with Lead Faculty.

  • Evaluate student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes.

  • Provide an excellent teaching experience as well as student advisement, recruitment activities and program/curriculum development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/University (technical, business or other 4-year degree that might be appropriate)

  • Teaching experience at the College or University level

  • The ability to engage with students outside the classroom with student-led research, club activities, or other student engagement experience.

  • 2 years of experience in one of the following areas:

    • Area 1 – Network Security

      • Networking concepts

      • SIME/SOAR, IDS/IPS, firewall knowledge, or other critical infrastructure technology (CIT)

      • Malware analysis experiences

      • Industrial protection (ICS, SCADA or other protection systems)

    • Area 2 – Digital Forensics

      • Court room experience (rescinding or preparing court documents or reports)

      • Presentation and/or collection of digital evidence

      • An understanding of digital forensics process

    • Area 3 – Compliance & Auditing

      • An understanding of compliance concepts

      • Experience with risk management and/or assessment

      • Experience with auditing or compliance review

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or terminal/doctorate degree in computer science, cybersecurity, business or related field.

  • Previous teaching experience with adult learners.

  • Experience with any Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)

  • The technical skills necessary for this position include familiarity with both the Macintosh and PC Platforms.

  • IT certifications in networking or cybersecurity. Vendors include but are not limited to: CompTIA, Cisco, EC Council, ISACA, ISC2.

All areas should include at least the following

  • Project Management

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to engage with learning both inside and outside the classroom
