The College of Science & Engineering at Morehead State University (KY) is accepting applications for a Dean of the College of Science & Engineering. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Dean of the College of Science & Engineering is responsible for administering and providing direct and effective leadership in undergraduate and graduate program development, evaluation, staffing, budgeting, and resource management to faculty and staff in the departments of Agricultural Sciences; Biology and Chemistry; Mathematics; Engineering Sciences; Nursing; Kinesiology, Health and Imaging Sciences and Psychology, and a variety of grant programs. In addition, the Dean also serves as liaison for the MSU/UK Physician Assistant Program. The Dean provides leadership and works collaboratively with the College of Education Dean to administer the MSUTeach program.

REQUIREMENTS: An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university in a field of study that is represented within the academic college. Three years of successful academic experience in higher education at the level of Department Chair or higher. Credential to support being a tenured faculty member, with faculty rank commensurate with job responsibilities. Evidence of professional and scholarly activity. Understanding of shared governance, leading academic personnel, curriculum, grants, and budgeting. The ideal candidate will also have effective leadership and communication skills, and an ability to gain grants, contracts, and other external resources for the units within the academic college.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Accreditation experience.

Organizational Relationships
The Dean of the College of Science & Engineering reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. This position interacts with faculty, administrators, staff, students, alumni, and other University constituencies. The Dean’s primary interest is in meeting the needs of students in the service region as well as focusing on educational trends at the state, national, and international level.

Adequate office staff and facilities are provided. In addition to regular office hours, the Dean has some evening and weekend responsibilities.
