College/Department Information

The Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response provides leadership, support, and training to reduce the disruption of service and loss of life and property by developing mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery strategies for Augusta University during disasters and emergency situations through a comprehensive, risk-based emergency preparedness platform.

Job Summary

Proactive Emergency Management Professional dedicated to the mission of The Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response, CEPaR, and Augusta University. A commitment to being proactive and continual learning aimed to achieve excellence in everything CEPaR is associated with. Maintain complete understanding of all facets of the emergency management cycle and leverage resources and talent within AU and the community to achieve best possible outcomes for all stakeholders from the impact of critical events. Embrace and embody a forward leaning and proactive mindset to SERVE AU and the community. Demonstrate commitment to achieving departmental and university mission by initiating and fostering quality relationships across the university and community.

Contribute to planning, preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation paradigms resulting in the delivery of documents, processes, policies, and stakeholder engagement to position AU and the community for optimal outcomes from critical events. Embrace servant leadership and actively seek opportunities to engage stakeholders and promote preparedness.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Identify, develop, schedule, and provide emergency management training using an all hazards approach to AU.
  • Review and revise plans, documents, reports to include Emergency Operation Plans, After Action Reports, HVAs, etc.
  • Assist the director of CEPaR in providing leadership, guidance and resources during the response phase of an incident, critical event or large-scale emergency; responds 24/7 to critical events.
  • Identify and pursue applicable grant opportunities to complement the mission of CEPaR.
  • Assist in promoting development of departments' completion of Continuity of Operations Plans.
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned.
  • Develop, coordinate and execute exercises in response to university needs, requirements and initiatives.


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years' of experience in emergency planning, response, management, or related field.

OR

Associates degree from an accredited college or university and four years of experience in emergency planning, response, management, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in emergency management or related field and two years' of experience in emergency planning, response, or management.
Certified Emergency Manager, or ability to obtain certification within two years of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Detail-oriented

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Band: 12

Salary : $62,300.00/Annually - $74,294.06/Annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Conditions of Employment
