Job Description
Summary
A Research Assistant II position is available at the Center for Advanced Innate Cell Therapy within the Texas Children’s Cancer Center. This position will be part of an interdisciplinary team of laboratory and clinical investigators developing novel forms of cancer immunotherapy. The Research Assistant II will assist with blood and tissue sample processing and will perform flow cytometry immunophenotyping and functional analyses of immune effector cells. Job Duties
- Processes peripheral blood, isolates mononuclear cells and specific cell subsets.
- Performs of numeric expansion of lymphocytes in culture.
- Performs retroviral transduction of cultured cells.
- Performs immunoflourescent staining and runs and runs flow cytometry analysis.
- Analyses flow cytometry data using FlowJo and DIVA software.
- Documents results of experiments and reports to principle investigators.
- Trains and orients less experienced research staff.
- Defines problems and possible solutions.
- Oversees the maintenance of lab equipment including a flow cytometer.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
- Three years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Cell Biology or a related field.
- Three years of hands-on experience with multi-color flow cytometry.
