Assistant Vice President of Residential and Hospitality Services

The Assistant Vice President of Residential and Hospitality Services (AVP) is accountable for the University of Pennsylvania's (Penn's) residential, dining, conference, hospitality, and off-campus services, including strategy, business and fiscal management, facilities, and operations. Reporting to Michael D. Scales, Vice President of Business Services, the AVP provides leadership and policy direction for Residential and Hospitality Services (RHS)—one of 17 departments reporting to Mr. Scales—and is responsible for an operating budget of over $60 million.

The salary range for this position is $230,000.00-$245,000.00.

QUALIFICATIONS

A master's degree and at least ten years of significant administrative/management experience leading housing, residential life, or hospitality teams in a higher education setting are required.

The following skills or competencies are also required:

• Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning skills with the ability to conduct short-range and long-range project planning studies.

• Ability to establish goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.

• Ability to organize complex work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives, and

exercise independent judgment.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions in a timely manner.

• Demonstrated organizational, managerial, budgetary, and exemplary financial management

skills.

• Ability to interpret, analyze, and evaluate data with a track record of effectively identifying

problems, evaluating alternatives, and implementing innovative and effective solutions.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated experience leading and supervising a diverse group of professional, support, and student employees.

• Ability to establish and maintain a collaborative rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.

• Demonstrated ability to build strategic relations with colleagues, coworkers, and constituents.

• A high level of professionalism, executive ability, and a keen understanding of protocol.
