The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Kennesaw State University is focused on student success and committed to ensuring all students can succeed in our programs. We offer American Chemical Society accredited undergraduate programs in chemistry and biochemistry including concentrations in forensic chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for full time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry faculty positions in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry with a preferred start date of August 2025. These are nine-month contracted positions. These positions are for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in chemistry and/or biochemistry, with a specialization in courses related to organic chemistry.
Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Taking a leadership role in the development of an externally funded, collaborative research program with undergraduate and graduate students as contributing co-investigators.
Participation in professional service activities within the Department, University and beyond.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
A Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline is required.
Post-doctoral training, or equivalent relevant postgraduate experiences with a demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publications.
A well-articulated research agenda capable of generating external funding and appropriate for including graduate (M.S.) and undergraduate research students.
A clear philosophy of teaching in their area of expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience, especially in organic chemistry.
Prior success in obtaining extramural funding, especially those that may be transferable to this position.
Candidates with synthetic expertise in polymer chemistry, organic materials, or medicinal chemistry are especially encouraged to apply.
