Qualifications:
BTECH 505 will focus on many modern biochemical and cell biology techniques commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry. Students will get hands-on experience in a combination of biochemical techniques such as protein purification, DNA/RNA electrophoresis, liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy and cell biological techniques such as cell culture of primary cells and cell lines, different types of microscopy including high-resolution confocal microscopy, immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry.
The course will be taught in a hybrid format during the 2025 Spring term (Feb 3 - May 25) as follows:
- Wednesdays, remote lecture, 6:00 - 7:00 pm; and
- Saturdays, in-person lab from 1:05 - 4:35 pm
In addition to teaching, the instructor is expected to hold regular virtual office hours (a minimum of one hour per week) in order to provide students with support outside of the classroom.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics or a related area of Biology with postdoctoral research experience in relevant areas of Biology.
Candidates must reside in California.
The salary range for this position is $13,657 - $18,898 (5.5 units) and is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the College and SEIU, Local 1021, available here.
