Job Description
Summary
In conjunction with Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, the Elkins Pancreas Center research team is responsible for designing, implementing, and collaborating on the Center's various research projects. With a focus on the EPC’s role in the Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes, and Pancreatic Cancer (CPDPC). The CPDPC was formed to undertake a comprehensive clinical, epidemiological, and biological characterization of patients with Chronic Pancreatitis including those with Acute Recurrent Pancreatitis or ARP. The primary role of the research intern is to assist in the implementation and operation of research studies conducted at the Center. Because we are doing primary data collection, the intern will have a very hands-on experience with the database, including data entry, data collection, data cleaning, and generating of reports. Interns will also have the opportunity to conduct individual research using the Center's dataset for a thesis project and/or a publication
Job Purpose
Provides temporary administrative or laboratory support to a department while gaining practical work experience.
Job Duties
- Conducts data entry.
- Conducts data quality assurance checks.
- Cleans research data.
- Runs queries / reports to fulfill data requests.
- Interviews research subjects.
- Performs literature searches and prepare literature reviews.
- Conducts patient interviews.
- Recruits, advertises, and screens for research patient.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in high school or be a high school graduate (or equivalent secondary education) or enrolled in an institution of higher education.
