Rivier University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Biology. Reporting to the Dean of Arts and Sciences and in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing and Health Professions, the Assistant Professor of Biology is responsible for developing and maintaining expertise in the biological sciences discipline and integrating that learning into the curriculum and classroom.
Duties and Responsibilities
Candidate must possess a keen interest and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring. students as well as the ability to work effectively with students of all levels and abilities.
Candidate should have a demonstrable understanding of how this discipline and this position support the education of nursing students.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues both in the department and throughout the University community.
Typical Qualifications
An earned doctorate in a biological science or health profession
All candidates should have experience teaching biology at the university level and a demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to teach a broad range of undergraduate biology courses.
A commitment to teaching excellence in an undergraduate, liberal arts program.
Desire to mentor undergraduate students in their course work, research, and career goals.
Knowledge of the field with a record of scholarship and a willingness to conduct research in an undergraduate setting. Preference will be given to those with an active research program and/or relevant experience in industry.
