The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Kennesaw State University is focused on student success and committed to ensuring all students can succeed in our programs. We offer American Chemical Society accredited undergraduate programs in chemistry and biochemistry including concentrations in forensic chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for an administrative faculty position as a tenured Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry with a preferred start date of July 1, 2025. This is a twelve-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities
The College of Science and Mathematics seeks a visionary and effective leader to serve as chair. Primary responsibilities of the Chair, who reports to the Dean, include, but are not limited to:

Advocating for the department with respect to the mission and expectations of the department, college, and university
Advocating for the interests of a growing department comprised of a dedicated faculty serving a vibrant student body
Demonstrating a commitment to transparency, shared governance, collaborative decision-making, and the values of inquiry, fairness, and collegiality
Promoting a work environment that is respectful, fair, and caring for all faculty and staff
Implementing a plan for the departmental role in strengthening the university's research mission
Managing the department budget and resources
Providing oversight of academic programs and developing new ones
Recruiting and retaining faculty and staff
Managing and steering the development of faculty and staff
Commitment to principles of excellence in teaching, research, and in the administrative operations of the department
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications
An earned doctoral degree, or its foreign equivalent, in an area of chemistry or biochemistry or a related field with an academic background and appropriate credentials to be a tenured Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Science and Mathematics at KSU is required.
A record of successful administrative leadership.
A record of demonstrable teaching success.
A distinguished record in a field that interfaces with the Department's research programs, and a history of extramural funding and research productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
A strong record of successful leadership, cultivating and promoting a shared vision among colleagues
A strong record of mentoring faculty and students, and innovating programs and curricula
A strong record of administrative experience, including budgeting, in a department, college, or university setting
A strong record of extramural support for their research
Experience in pursuit and administration of programmatic and/or training grants
Recent experience in teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level and a record of excellence in teaching, reflective of current best practices
Experience in building academic and research programs
Experience collaborating with colleagues in multiple specialties or disciplines
Excellence in scholarly activity as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals
A record of professional service and community engagement at department, college, university, discipline, and/or community levels
