Summary

The section of Gastroenterology & Hepatology is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated procedure scheduler to schedule Gastroenterology endoscopy outpatient procedures. The position requires patient education and navigation through the patient's journey, including prepping patients for the procedure and scheduling the procedure with BCM & BSLMC EMR.The candidate will work closely with physicians and procedure schedules.

The position will be at McNair in the Texas Medical Center. The candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8 hours daily. The ideal candidate will be organized, motivated, and passionate about providing excellent customer service to our patients.

Job Duties

  • Schedules endoscopy GI procedures in BCM and BSLMC , assuring that every referred patient will have a procedure date scheduled.
  • Contacts patients for instruction before the procedures and notifies patients of date/time/arrival time.
  • Requests additional information from referring physicians if needed.
  • Works closely with endoscopy care coordination team to fill endoscopy block.
  • Works on order work queue to select orders and schedule patients.
  • Works closely with MD for any patient special instructions, including procedure locations and clearances prior.
  • Performs cross-checks for procedural or scheduling conflicts to ensure accuracy of exam.
  • Acquires clinical notes as needed prior to the exam.
  • Maintains confidentiality of passwords/codes for all information systems and patient information, as observed by supervisor.
  • Verifies and confirms patient identification and patient information including patient precautions and other vital information on all documentation, as observed by supervisor.
  • Communicates in an appropriate manner as outlined in the patient care manual.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.
