What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking a Construction Services Carpenter Tradesperson
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Perform carpentry in a commercial construction setting.
- Work inside & outside in various conditions at Sandia National Laboratories.
- May be reassigned to priority projects at any moment’s notice.
- Collaborate with other craft/trades on the same jobsite project to achieve mission success.
- Collaborate with management, safety professionals, planners, and all other areas.
- Maintain a safe and clean jobsite.
- May need to work non-standard hours to support mission needs.
- As a condition of employment, Metal Trades positions are represented by the Metal Trades Council (MTC) and represented employees must pay the monthly membership dues or agency fee.
Qualifications We Require:
- Plan and perform operations such as fabrication, installation of fire doors, door mechanisms, security gates/turnstiles, barrier gates (electrical and manual); installation and fabrication of metal ladders and cabinets.
- Erect, dismantle, align, level, rig, move, anchor, or install all types of machines, test equipment, similar or associated items.
- Perform commercial carpentry, fabricate, install various types of cabinets, tops, trims, moldings, finish flooring, displays, wood towers, ceilings, concrete forms, doors and hardware, trusses or bearing partitions, interior/exterior partitions, and masonry work.
- Demonstrated knowledge and perform arc, inert-gas arc, gas welding and cutting.
- Utilize a computerized database to maintain required records.
- Perform work using industry standard safety practices.
- Consult with other tradespersons and act as a lead person, which includes, but is not limited to assigning work to coworkers and instructing or training others as required.
- As required, due to weather conditions or workload, perform duties covered under lower graded classifications assigned to support Construction Services Department.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial carpentry
Must have a valid New Mexico state issued driver’s license.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Commercial steel stud framing and drywall experience.
- Commercial hollow metal/wood door and frame installation experience.
- Commercial acoustical ceiling and seismic bracing installation experience.
- Commercial concrete forms and stair installation experience.
- Completion of a State certified carpentry apprenticeship or approved accredited program.

Security Clearance:
