To provide services to support the nutrition and health areas of the child care program.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

  • Prepare morning and afternoon snacks.
  • Wash, dry and fold clothes to the classrooms.
  • Wash, sort and return to dishes to classrooms.
  • Clean, sanitize and return educational materials to the classrooms.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen area.
  • Buy groceries weekly.
  • Maintain equipment (for example, de-lime dishwasher).
  • Assure food safety (for example, check refrigerator temperatures).

Additional Job Specific Duties

  • Communicate positively with family members, co-workers, students and community members.
  • Protect the health and safety of children by following food handling and food establishment guidelines.
  • Behave professionally and ethically (for example, wear nametag, dress appropriately, arrive on time ready to work, inform supervisor when absent).
  • Assist with keeping hallways and storage areas organized.
  • Complete training as required by the City/County Health Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
Special Requirements
  • 18 years of age.
  • Willingness to participate in orientation and training prior to placement.
  • Willingness to participate in required training.
  • Meet criminal history requirements for HHS Child Care Regulation.
Other Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of some Culinary Arts or Nutrition college coursework.
  • Familiarity with USDA guidelines.
  • Work experience in a food establishment or related field work or internships.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is routinely performed in a standard office or similar environment.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
Safety
  • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

This is the perfect job for a nutrition student who wants to get on the job experience, become a food manager, create snack menus that align with USDA guidelines, and support children and families in developing healthy nutrition practices.

Hours

Mondays 10-1; Wednesdays 11-5; Fridays 11-5 (may be adjusted if needed)

$23.00/hour
