Job Profile Summary

This position supports accounting and financial operations of the Foundation’s Finance Department. Under limited supervision, the purpose of the job requires the application of accounting practices and theory for compound complex accounting processes in order to complete period close requirements provided for each function area and to perform standard accounting functions such as general ledger maintenance processes, accounts payables and receivables, project process and reconciliation, investments and financial reporting. Employees in this job classification are responsible for analyzing financial and operating data and preparing management reports and financial statements as necessary. Position acts as a back-up to the Senior Director of Foundation Financial Management Reporting as necessary.

  

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business or Accounting.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Six years of relevant experience in accounting
  • Experience using accounting systems to perform accounting and financial functions.

Essential Functions:

  • Other - 45%: Responsible for completion of the tasks outlined in the close check list. Research and process correcting entries. Analyze Balance Sheet and profit & loss accounts to identify errors and propose adjustments with minimal supervision. Strong technical accounting knowledge to compile and complete analysis of financial statements. Prepare and maintain complex tracking reports for the health science and hospital partners. Compiles and maintains subsystem reconciliation records.
  • Weekly - 20%: Processes the Accounts Payables by overseeing the submission of the check requests and the posting to the financial system for vendor payments and college invoices following internal process and controls.
  • Monthly - 20%: Assists with month end close processes that consists of receiving and reconciling the monthly college invoices; processes and prepares the monthly invoices for the health science partners; processes the related party transactions. Prepare gift reconciliations, reviews, and upload gift entries from the Raiser’s Edge subsystem. Prepares the monthly and quarterly allocations.
  • Other - 5%: Prepares accounting journal entries for receivables. Correctly apply revenue recognition for the recording to expenses and revenue. Reconciles project activity.
  • Other - 5%: Prepares regularly scheduled and special reconciliations and financial statements for local, state, federal, and private funding sources. Interacts with internal and external auditors, participates in audit support, and/or provides information and access to accounting records as required. Monitors and reviews accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness. Provides oversight and guidance to other staff.
  • Other - 5%: Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, college and DSO policies and applicable laws and regulations. Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
