Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide onsite and remote IT support services as follows: Install and maintain computer hardware, peripherals, audio/video, and networking equipment.
Plan and implement necessary computer hardware and software changes for UF/IFAS Extension offices and Research and Education Centers. Support faculty and staff in evaluating and selecting equipment and software, and coordinate hardware and software testing, including managing complex and highly technical applications and equipment. Initiate security risk assessments for hardware and software in compliance with University and UF/IFAS policy.
Maintain UF Active Directory configuration and organizational units for North Florida Research and Education Center and the District's County Extension Offices.
Analyze and resolve problems with local area networking (LAN) and wide-area networking (WAN) for Extension offices and Research and Education Center wired and wireless networks and internet connectivity. Participate in the Design and implementation of LAN and WAN upgrades and problem resolutions.
Develop and conduct training programs for faculty and staff to increase IT skills, including use of client applications, use of network resources, and new technology as it becomes available.
Stay current with emerging technology, keeping abreast of industry trends. Support District and State goal and focus teams through participation in planning and strategy meetings.
Participate in UF and UF/IFAS computer support groups, sharing knowledge and techniques.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPECTED SALARY:
$61K-69K commensurate with education and experience
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced-level technical knowledge of client systems, Microsoft Windows, macOS, various client software applications and management tools, with hardware and software in a networked environment.
Intermediate-level technical knowledge of internet connectivity and networking systems installation and troubleshooting.
Intermediate-level technical knowledge of classroom and conference room multimedia and audio/video (A/V) solutions
Intermediate-level technical knowledge of offered cloud services.
Technical training and documentation experience.
Excellent English language and interpersonal communication skills, along with strong customer service abilities. Comfortable supporting users with varying levels of IT knowledge and experience.
Critical thinker and self-motivated professional, that can set priorities, work independently, and quickly diagnose and resolve problems.
