Facilities Services Division provides quality customer service by maintaining a safe, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing environment in which students, faculty, and staff can function and accomplish their educational objectives and by supporting a patient care culture that continuously improves. Facilities Services' responsibilities include Interior and Exterior Facilities Support, Construction, Space Management, and Environmental Services.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President of Facilities, this position provides leadership, direction, oversight and general management for all finance and business-related activities for Facilities Services in support of the mission and vision of Augusta University across all campus locations. This includes providing solid leadership to project finance and accounting staff, successfully managing multiple Facilities-related service contracts, monitoring & managing Facilities operating budgets including the unexpended plant fund balance. The position also leads the Facilities collaboration effort with AU Institutional Effectiveness regarding Facilities goals and metrics development and reporting.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Directs & administers all fiscal compliance & business operations for Facilities' activities.
  • Exercises primary responsibility over the accounting, reporting, budgeting, & monitoring of all financial matters within Facilities.
  • Prepares, tracts, & monitors the operating budgets for each area of Facilities & provides financial reporting & analysis for business operations & project accounting.
  • Serves as the responsible authority for business & financial decisions involving procurement of equipment & services related to Facilities' activities.
  • Develops & implements fiscal policies & procedures which ensure that generally accepted accounting principles & regulations, state contracting law, & good fiscal practices are employed.
  • Provides guidance to Facilities' staff on complex fiscal matters, budgetary considerations, funding identification & transfers & other fiscal matters related to Facilities' activities.
  • Collaborates with contractors & service providers on matters related to invoicing & payment.
  • Collects & disseminates data used to create reports used to track & manage metrics.
  • Establishes operational, benchmark, & performance metrics for Facilities & assists Directors in utilizing metrics to measure effectiveness, efficiency, & guide managerial decisions.
  • Provides strategic and sound leadership and direction to Facilities Business Operations staff including establishing clear goals and expectations outlining pathways for staff success and advancement.
  • Utilizes effective critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills to make timely decisions and communicates tactfully to business operations staff.
  • Provides training for business operations staff related to new methods, policies, procedures, and general university topics.
  • Manages staffing levels and leads recruitment and hiring efforts for Business Operations.
  • Works closely with subordinate staff to provide guidance and create development plans and performance assessments. Assist staff with career development and identifying opportunities to excel.
  • Review proposals for new and/or revised service contracts and construction contracts for content and general university requirements resulting in recommendations for Facilities' staff regarding proposed contract details.
  • Maintain a database of all Facilities service and construction contracts to include contract terms and contact information.
  • Periodically review existing Facilities contracts for compliance and adherence to requirements.
  • Provide summary reports of this review to university leadership regularly.
  • Participate as needed in communication efforts with vendor and contractor representatives related to contract issues.
  • Perform regular appraisals of service contracts focusing on vendor performance including providing constructive feedback to the vendor.
  • Collaborate with AU Legal staff as necessary regarding contract issues.
  • AU Institutional Effectiveness (IE): Collaborate with Institutional Effectiveness staff regarding initiatives and programs affecting Facilities. Provide information and support for SACSCOC accreditation efforts and annual Facilities goal progress and other IE related committees.
  • University System of Georgia (USG): Engage and collaborate with the USG staff maintaining a positive and productive working relationship. Attend meetings and collect/submit data and other information as requested.
  • Information Technology (IT): Serve as a liaison with IT related to operational needs within Facilities. Engage IT staff for assistance with programming, funding, or system requirements.
  • Public Safety (AUPD): Provide Facilities' information as needed to AUPD regarding funding and other required needs.
  • Human Resources (HR): Provide support to Facilities leadership regarding HR concerns and processes for process assistance and position funding information.
  • AU Procurement: Collaborate with AU Procurement staff regarding the procurement of services and equipment supporting Facilities initiatives and projects.
  • AU Finance: Actively collaborate with AU Finance and Budget staff on requests for data and funding issues.
  • Consistently provide professional, accurate, tactful, and timely written and verbal communications to Facilities staff and other university staff.
  • Establishes and maintains positive collaborative working relationships with all levels of Augusta University and USG staff.
  • Develop and lead group presentations and meetings including work groups and committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in business, finance, accounting, public administration, engineering, or architecture with a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree from an accredited college or university in business, finance, accounting, public administration, engineering, or architecture with a minimum of 12 years of related experience.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F 8:00am - 5:00pm (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)
Pay Band: 17
Salary Minimum: $109,500.00/Annually - $139,600.00/Annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
