Associate Director for Operations and Outreach

Reporting to the director of student housing and residential life (SHRL), the associate director for operations and outreach (ADOO) is responsible for the daily operations of SHRL, including occupancy management, conference services, front desk service areas, communication and marketing, oversight and enforcement of the housing and meal plan licenses and related policies, and billing for the department. The associate director effectively administers all aspects of the operations and outreach unit within SHRL to support approximately 3,600 residents across 14 buildings on main campus and two apartment neighborhoods on the east campus. The position is a critical member of the department’s leadership team, which includes the associate directors for business and finance, facilities and planning, and residential life, and an assistant director for organizational development.

The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, student affairs, or a related field and four years of progressively responsible experience managing and coordinating residential programs are required. The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of the housing operations practice, and the procedures, management, and activities of a residential life program.

A master’s degree and multiple years of experience working in an operational setting for university housing operations are preferred. Candidates with experience working with StarRez or a related university housing software solution are specifically preferred.

• Understands and has a working knowledge of CBORD and PeopleSoft, as well as experience working in an educational environment. Has a working knowledge of the practices, procedures, management, and activities of a program supporting students living on campus including financial, occupancy management, and meal plans.

• Demonstrates technical literacy in reporting and data analysis and applies a data-informed approach to decision-making.

• Has a proven track record of strong supervision skills and successful organizational change management acumen.

• Possesses the skills to navigate institutional politics and maintaining critical relationships throughout the campus.

• Maintains a goal-driven philosophy while demonstrating flexibility and the ability to remain nimble while achieving goals.

• Has a student-centered approach to process and communications to support a greater understanding of the student housing experience for all stakeholders including students, families, and the university.

• Supports students, families, and campus partners on routine and complex matters.
