INTRODUCTION

The School of Computing at the University of Connecticut invites applicants for a non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor-in-Residence, or Lecturer at the Storrs campus. The successful candidate will primarily contribute to the department’s teaching program but is encouraged to pursue their academic interests and collaborate within the department. Preference will be given to candidates in the areas of Computer Architecture, Computer Systems and Programming Languages.

The School of Computing at UConn harbors a rich environment of instruction offering four rigorous degrees in the computing sciences and a world-class research enterprise. The department has experienced unprecedented growth in the last five years, leading to new and exciting education and research initiatives for faculty and students. CSE has 47 full-time faculty members with research areas including security, machine learning, bioinformatics, systems and networking, and big data analytics. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level, development of innovative courses and mentoring of students, outreach, and professional development. The successful candidate will also be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through teaching, and/or public engagement the richness of diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

APIR: Candidates interested in the Assistant or Associate Professor must:

Have an earned Ph.D. in computing sciences, mathematics, or related field by the time of appointment.
Have a proven record or potential in teaching and must have a deep commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion through their academic programs.
LECTURER: Candidates interested in the Lecturer must:

Have earned a Master's degree in computing sciences or related field by the time of appointment.
Have a proven record of potential in teaching and demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and enhancing inclusion as proven through academic programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

APIR: Candidates interested in the Assistant or Associate Professor must:

Demonstrate expertise in at least 5 of the following areas of computer science: introduction to programming, data structures, and algorithms, basic cyber security, architecture, and system programming.
Demonstrate commitment to effective teaching and use of innovative techniques.
Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with students in both large and small audiences.
Demonstrate ability to contribute through teaching and/or public engagement to diversity.
Have an outstanding record of teaching and scholarship.
Strive to excel in their teaching evaluations.
Candidates with experience in Computer Architecture, Computer Systems and Programming Languages are encouraged to apply.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 9-month, annually renewable non-tenure track position with the possibility of subsequent annual academic-year reappointment, contingent on positive reviews and program funding, and may lead to a multi-year appointment. Employment is conditional upon the timely completion of an approved I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification Form). Candidates must be able to begin work on August 26, 2025, for the semester start. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and interests.
