The Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University (ODU) is seeking a highly motivated leader, educator, and scholar to be the inaugural Graduate Program Director of the newly created, Doctor of Applied Science in Kinesiology (DASK) program. The DASK is an online program designed to develop professionals to become leaders, scholars, and educators in the field of human movement. This program is in the Ellmer College of Health Sciences which also includes the schools of Dental Hygiene, Exercise Science, Medical Diagnostic and Translational Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences, and Speech-Language Pathology.
The candidate will be based in the school most appropriate for their background and will work closely with ODU Global and the program faculty to develop and grow this program. The Ellmer College of Health Sciences has well equipped research facilities as well as centers and clinics that serve the community. There are many opportunities for collaboration within the college and university, and with hospitals and military bases locally in the Hampton Roads region.
In addition to directing the DASK, the individual will teach and supervise students in the program and produce scholarships in a content area that matches their scholarly interests. Some service to the university and profession is also expected. This is a full time, twelve-month position at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor (non-tenure track). We are committed to maintaining a diverse and stable faculty. The appointment is effective July 25, 2025.

Earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or similar content area
Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities
Demonstrated successful outcomes in teaching kinesiology related courses.
Demonstrated successful outcomes in developing and teaching online courses.
Evidence of scholarship at the clinical associate professor level encompassing Boyer’s model domains.
Experience in leading educational programs or initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated successful outcomes in teaching graduate students.
Record of successful mentorship of graduate student thesis or capstone projects
Active participation in professional organizations within the field of kinesiology
