Job Summary/Basic Function:

To ensure proper and timely submissions of proposals on behalf of faculty and staff at Wright State University for external funding and other sponsored project applications that request support for research, education, and other activities, including development of accurate and realistic budgets, correct interpretation of sponsor and university guidelines, and successful negotiation of award terms and conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited institution.
Two years of research experience or its equivalent.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Experience in both oral and written communication – candidate must have the ability to interact effectively and expeditiously with all levels of university faculty and staff and external sponsors.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Higher Education.
1-3 years of experience in grant/contract administration, sponsored programs or related field.
Certified Research Administrator (CRA).
Experience with electronic sponsored project systems including submittal of proposals through Infoed or other similar system-to-system platforms, NSF Fastlane, NIH Commons, and other electronic portals.
Essential Functions and percent of time:
55% – Pre-Award Grants Management
Coordinate the Pre-Award submission process for WSU faculty.
Assist assigned School/College or Division faculty with assembly of proposal packages and electronic submission of proposals via agency specific electronic means or other specified guidelines.
Assist faculty in identification of funding opportunities.
Work closely with faculty to develop accurate and realistic budgets ensuring compliance with university and sponsor guidelines.
Interpret sponsor guidelines during proposal development.
Promote timely initiation and monitoring of on-campus internal routing for review and approval prior to proposal submission.
Responsible for reviewing final grant application before submission to the sponsor to ensure proposal completeness and compliance with WSU and sponsor guidelines.
Research, analyze and resolve problems on new and/or existing awards.
Serve as contact for post-submission inquiries from faculty and/or sponsor agencies.

15% – Compliance
Monitor business and fiscal processes to ensure compliance and good stewardship of university resources.
Ensure the completeness of appropriate certifications related to financial compliance, human subjects, animal research, hazardous materials, etc. that are required at time of proposal submission or prior to award.
Interpret and applies administrative policy related to finance, accounting, budgeting, auditing, procurement, legal and regulatory compliance.
Act as liaison between faculty and areas of compliance.

15% – Award Negotiation
Responsible for review and negotiation of grants, contracts, and other agreement language to ensure acceptability of terms and conditions.
Remain up to date with changes in university, state, federal and sponsoring agency policies and regulations and related authoritative guidance.
Work with the faculty to prepare and submit revised award budgets as necessary.

15% – Other Duties as Assigned
Work on special projects and other duties assigned by supervisor, including but not limited to information dissemination, providing back-up of other pre-award team members in their absence.
Respond to faculty requests for proposal development information and insight: promote university research and the mission of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) by participating in training faculty, staff, and students in workshop and classroom settings.
