The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Payroll Services is recruiting for an Accountant Technician 1. This position is located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
Duties include preparing faculty / classified employee information for payroll processing, completes wage and employment verification requests, issues payments to clear liability accounts for retirement, rent, computer loans and campus foundations. Responsibilities include producing manual checks and processing refunds, making necessary adjustments to correct over-payments, and ensuring proper payment distribution. This position will also process faculty / classified retirement payments, report to vendors, and reconcile retirement accounts regularly to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, the Accountant Technician 1 will handle direct deposit reports, recalls, and payments while ensuring seamless transactions and accurate reporting. This position will also be tasked with supporting general financial duties and assisting with miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the department.
Required Qualifications
This position requires graduation graduation from high school and two (2) years of financial records maintenance experience which included such duties as controlling accounts payable/receivable; preparing financial reports for internal management use; and reconciling complex accounts; OR
Two (2) years of experience as an Accounting Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR
One (1) year as an Accounting Assistant IV in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
This position requires experience processing payroll, using Microsoft Word in a business setting, using Microsoft Excel in a business setting, proficiency with Ten Key by Touch (A skills test will be administer upon interview).
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 30
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
