College/Department Information
The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at Augusta University is part of Enrollment and Student Affairs. We are dedicated to providing guidance and assistance for students to help ease the financial burdens associated with their education. We inform prospective and current students of the resources and services available to them to secure funds for financing their education. We advise students of their eligibility for financial assistance, assist with completing documents, and counsel students regarding their rights and responsibilities of receiving aid. Our goal is to help students and their families make the best use of financial aid resources so they may achieve their educational accomplishments.
Job Summary
The Financial Aid Assistant serves a critical role in delivering exceptional customer service to students, families, and campus partners by providing information and guidance related to the financial aid process. The assistant will serve as the first point of contact for students and their families, addressing inquiries, ensuring compliance with financial aid procedures, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information to align with federal regulations. A strong understanding of financial aid resources and a collaborative approach across multiple campuses are essential.
Responsibilities
The duties included, but are not limited to:
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Greet and assist students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors by providing timely and accurate information about financial aid processes and policies. Assess and respond to phone, email, and in-person inquiries directly and escalate more complex issues to the appropriate team members or departments. Provide updates on financial aid status and assist students with understanding their aid eligibility, requirements, and procedures. Maintain a high level of professionalism, multitasking capabilities, and energy to deliver outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.
COLLABORATION AND ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Assist with on-campus events including new student orientation and welcome events, providing financial aid guidance as needed. Collaborate with the Business Office as required to ensure the proper handling of financial aid-related financial matters.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: Handle incoming calls with a friendly, professional demeanor and direct them to the correct department or individual as needed. Respond promptly and accurately to emails in the financial aid accounts, addressing student and visitors' inquiries. Assist students and faculty with navigating the Banner Self Service (POUNCE) platform and troubleshooting online form issues.
DATA ENTRY AND DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT: Download, verify, and process documents in a timely manner. Collect, route, and process incoming financial aid documents while ensuring proper documentation and accuracy. Scan and index documents into the appropriate systems, ensuring that all necessary documentation is complete and up-to-date. Notify students of missing documents, outstanding balances, or incomplete financial aid requirements and assist them in resolving these issues.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
with two years of work experience in customer service or office setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a Financial Aid Office or related higher education field.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Understanding and adherence to federal and state statutes regarding eligibility and the distribution of student financial aid, as well as the ability to apply these regulations consistently
Knowledge of and strict adherence to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) laws to protect student
confidentiality
SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively in-person, through writing, and over the phone
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and guiding students and families through the financial aid process
ABILITIES
Demonstrated ability to assess issues, make decisions independently, and address problems efficiently
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently, maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention
to detail in a fast-paced environment
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, students, and other
stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive student financial data
Ability to learn and adapt to financial aid systems such as Ellucian Banner SIS, CampusLogic, Technolutions Slate CRM.

Shift: Days; Monday-Friday
Pay Band; B4
Salary: $17.02/hourly - $19.62/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Conditions of Employment
All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University.
