MSTE 517-04 (3 Units) - Introduction to Field Experience
Classes held in Brentwood, CA, in Person, T/TH+ one Friday 4:30-8:20 Meets on 5/27, 5/29, 6/3, 6/5, 6/10, 6/12, 6/17, 6/20, 6/24, 6/26
This course introduces candidates to the social, historical, cultural, legal and ethical foundations of education. Candidates will engage with multiple models and implementation of classroom practices to support all students in safe and effective learning environments. Candidates become familiar with the Common Core State Standards and Teacher Performance Expectations (TPEs) of the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing. Throughout the course, candidates
explore methods of classroom management, design and write lesson plans, explore assessment, set goals for supervised teaching and begin the process of developing a classroom management plan.
Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Education or related field

  • 5 years of experience teaching in K-12 settings

  • Knowledge of the major theories in child development

  • Knowledge of the major theories of learning

  • Knowledge of atypical development associated with various disabilities

  • Knowledge of how K-12 children differ in their development and learning approaches to support the development and learning of individual children

This position requires all course work to be performed in the state of California.
