Job Description
Sarah Lawrence College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Sociology, beginning in Fall 2026. We seek scholars with a research and teaching focus on Public Sociology in relation to Medical Sociology. Candidates with expertise in two or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: Public Health and Health Advocacy; Health Equity and Racial Justice; Social Movements, Policing, and the Law; Sociology of the Body and Disability Studies; Science, Technology, and Society. Within their area(s) of specialization, we expect applicants to be able to address the relation between theory and method, quantitative and qualitative research, as well as the relevance of history to sociology. The ideal candidate should have a research and teaching focus on the U.S. but be able to connect their work to global contexts.

Applications should include the following: Cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, official transcripts, two sample undergraduate syllabi relevant to the position, a sample of scholarly work, and three letters of reference.
Compensation listed for this position is for a full-time tenure-track faculty position and will be contingent on teaching experience.
Required Qualifications
Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. by Summer 2026, in Sociology or an interdisciplinary program with strong connections to the discipline.
Salary
$70,000 to $85,000
