Summary

The Department of Dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine is looking for a Research Coordinator I to coordinate the day-to-day activities in the Skin of Color clinic, supporting clinical trials activities. This is position is on-site with the opportunity to work alongside the Principal Investigator directly. The ideal candidate will manage IRB, regulatory and budget aspects of the trial, data collection, patient recruitment and enrollment, and conduct standardized surveys by telephone. Someone with previous clinical trial experience is preferred.

Work schedule is typically Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8 am - 4 pm.

Job Duties

  • Interviews and administers surveys, screens, and recruits patients for clinical trials; explains process and procedures to educate the participant regarding research study.
  • Schedules research participant for tests and procedures, such as laboratory tests, x-rays, and other studies specific for the research protocol.
  • Corresponds with patients throughout the study.
  • May collect, process, ship, and maintain paperwork for blood and/or biological specimens according to procedures outlined in study protocol.
  • Assists with daily administrative tasks like preparing study materials, photocopying, organizing and filing documents, mailing study materials, working with confidential files.
  • Provides detailed patient information for study, including scheduling for follow-ups.
  • Assists in the basic upkeep of institutional review board (IRB) documents for the active studies, including submission of amendments and continual review.
  • Orders / organizes laboratory research supplies and equipment.
  • Enters data from clinical trials into sponsor's electronic data capture systems and ensures accuracy of data entry.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Previous clinical trial experience.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Organized, self-motivated, teamwork, works well under pressure, multitasking.
