The College of Journalism and Communications (CJC) Human Resources Department is seeking an experienced and motivated Human Resources Manager to support the HR Director, and college leadership. This position plays a vital role in managing HR operations that directly support faculty, staff, and students across the college.

Key Functions and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

Lead a welcoming, thoughtful onboarding process that reflects CJC’s culture of care and connection.
Manage the annual CJC Faculty Orientation and Quarterly Staff Orientations, ensuring new colleagues feel supported from day one.
Serve as a search advisor.
Manage immigration processes for faculty pursuing permanent residency with accuracy, empathy, and attention to detail.
Manage appointment actions via ePAF, ensuring clarity, compliance, and a smooth experience for departments and employees.
Manage the college‑level Tenure and Promotion process, ensuring fairness, transparency, and timely communication.
Maintain databases and coordinate compensation for sabbatical awards, evaluations, and faculty programs.
Ensuring timely completion of faculty and staff evaluations.
Supervising the Human Resources Generalist I.
Overseeing CJC rewards, recognition, and service awards programs.
Supporting employee relations matters, including terminations.
Monitoring compliance across the college community.

Normal Work Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Independent work with minimal supervision
Regular interaction with college leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners
Designated as Essential Personnel during significant events.
Salary Expectations Commensurate with Experience
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:
Strong knowledge of UF policies, procedures, and HR systems.
Familiarity with UF immigration compliance processes.
Supervisory experience
Knowledge of UF Faculty Excellence and Advancement (FEA)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; ability to learn new systems quickly.
Exceptional organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to teach, guide, and collaborate.
Ability to work diplomatically with individuals at all levels and maintain strict confidentiality.

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or HRCI Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred
