Job Description
The laboratory of Drs. Ted and Valina Dawson seek applications for a Chemist or Biochemist to study innovative interventions in Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and stroke using novel technologies.
We are a dynamic and innovative research team dedicated to exploring cutting-edge scientific questions to provide new therapies to the field of neurodegenerative disease. We are seeking candidates with a PhD or MD/PhD degree. The successful candidate should have a strong background in chemical synthesis and medicinal chemistry, including design and multi-step synthesis of small molecules, optimization of structure–activity relationships, and characterization of compounds using modern analytical techniques (e.g., NMR, LC-MS, HPLC). Additional experience with enzyme assays, inhibitor screening, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and the design and application of molecular glues or PROTACs (proteolysis-targeting chimeras) to develop novel therapeutic agents is highly desirable. Candidates are expected to have excellent organizational and communication skills and critical thinking abilities to engage in interactive and discovery driven research. Required is a demonstrated record of achievements and publications. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Applicants should submit their CV, a letter outlining interest and goals (including a brief description of relevant chemical synthesis and biophysical assay experience), and names and contact information of three references to [email protected] and [email protected].
All employment decisions shall be consistent with the principle of equal employment opportunity, and only job-related qualifications will be required.
