The Research Assistant II in the Department of Surgery Oncology will conduct experiments and laboratory analysis following clearly defined procedures. 75% of the time will be spent in the laboratory performing biomedical research experiments, analyzing data, preparing abstract and poster presentation for conference and writing manuscript. 25% of the time will be spent participating in career development activities, attending journal club/research in progress/seminar, and attending a scientific meeting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform experimental procedures, record, and consolidate data.
Collect tissues and culture samples and conduct a variety of assays and experimental tests.
Prepare materials for faculty and staff research reports.
Present data at lab meeting, monthly research in progress and national meeting.
Participate in training workshops.
Perform library research; preparing bibliographies and abstracts.
Calibrate and operate a variety of laboratory equipment.
Prepare line culture media for the production, perpetuation, and testing of micro-organisms.
May perform routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals, including the performance of surgical procedures or administration of drugs.
Perform related duties as assigned
Applicants should have a background in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Psychology or biomedical field and have related undergraduate research experience. They must also have applied to the UL-BIOMED-PREP program via InfoReady.
Target Compensation Maximum:
$25.39Target Compensation Minimum:
$16.93Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
