Job Profile Summary

Under general direction, this position provides leadership, oversight of fast-paced continuing education program and specialized training initiatives for healthcare professionals. This role involves strategic planning, program development, execution and assessment to ensure the delivery of high-quality, innovative educational activities that meet the needs of healthcare professionals and organizations. The incumbent in this position will provide tactical and operational leadership for Continuing Education healthcare Programs.

  

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Ten years of teaching experience in nursing with demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in program planning and development, and budgeting in an academic environment, or similarly related field. Five years general business management experience, in post-secondary or higher education. Experience with health science non-credit programs preferred.

Minimum Certification/Licenses:

  • Must have current and active Registered Nurse License from the State of Florida with no history of suspension or having any action taken against that license.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily - 30%: Leads in the development of new programs to meet the changing needs of the healthcare community and works with hospital and healthcare partners to ensure Nurse Specialty training initiatives meet community healthcare needs.
  • Monthly - 15%%: Monitor trends in nursing education, and research. Responsible for benchmarking and reporting tracking core performance outcomes
  • Quarterly - 10%: Engages in faculty recruitment, orientation, development, mentoring, and evaluation. Organizing activities of specialization coordinators; working with other service units on faculty development matters.
  • Monthly - 15%: Provides leadership and coordinates projects, processes, and procedures for continuous program improvement initiatives.
  • Quarterly - 5%: Coordinates with members of the Advisory Committee and external healthcare agencies and represents the college, in organizations / meetings.
  • Monthly - 5%: Promotes continued integration of patient care simulation into the curriculum; oversees staff in the development, implementation, and evaluations of patient care simulation activities that can be incorporated into Continued Adult Education and Nurse Specialty Training Courses
  • Monthly - 5%: Assists in the management of budgetary and financial assets related to the department
  • Quarterly - 5%: Develops and implements recruitment plans, marketing strategies and partnerships that focus on increasing enrollment in Continuing Education courses by developing, editing and distributing promotional materials (i.e. brochure, flyers etc.)
  • Daily - 5%: Maintains quality and integrity of the program curriculum.
  • Other - 5%: Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and ability to coordinate and direct the Continuing Education/Workforce Development training programs in accordance with College policies, procedures and contractual agreements. This includes all matters relating to personnel, students, scheduling, curriculum implementation, instruction, and all financial considerations relating to the training programs; effective communication skills; understands all aspects of departmental budget management.

  • Proven expertise in planning and executing operational plans, managing projects and/or programs, budgeting and cost control

  • Ability to diagnose, plan and manage resource requirements for own area, including staffing, budgets, equipment, etc.
  • Ability to partner with others across the College and externally to exchange information, collaborate on projects, share resources, etc.
