About This Role:
The Grant Specialist will provide financial and grant administration for the assigned department(s) within the College of Agriculture/K-State Research & Extension’s Business Services Unit. This position is responsible for all components of financial management, post-award accounting, procurements, and business management on a day-to-day basis.
Responsible for the accounting and budgeting of grants, accounting and management of non-grant departmental funding, reconciliation of grants and other departmental accounts for accuracy, expenditure processing and verification of compliance to grant guidelines, balancing monthly spreadsheets, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations and policies.
Work with Department Heads, Directors, and/or PIs within the assigned department(s), other university departments and/or units, and governmental agencies to gather and disseminate technical and financial reports as requested. Communicates and collaborates with pertinent individuals, PreAwards, and SPA to ensure timely issuance of processing activities and to facilitate a smooth transition from proposal to award.
Worksite Options:
This position is required to be performed on-site. Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with grants and contracts from federal, state and private sources.
Experience preparing budgets or compiling/interpreting financial reports
Ability to learn quickly, determine priorities and take initiative.
Ability to work independently and meet multiple deadlines.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with attention to detail.
Experience with Higher Education/University grants/sponsored programs, processes

$24.04-$29.80 hourly ($50,000-$62,000)
